Just love this place, amzing atmosphere whatever night you go in and yet to find a member of staff or doorstaff not in a good mood.went there and heard a great band (i think called protect the beat) on anight when i wasnt in a party mood. Ended up partying til the wee small hours spending a fortune and loving it serve exceptional drinks aswell, clearly well trained
This was our first visit to the HiFi and we were not disappointed. Entrance fee at 9 each was reasonably priced for two funny comedy turns (although the compare could do with a few more confidence building sessions) and a great atmosphere. Drinks well priced (bottle white wine & mineral water 11). The crowd were in fine form and a good night was had by all. Nice one Leeds.

Yussef Ahmed and MY5.0

Following a review that appeared on this site regarding Yussef Ahmed's performance 29th October 2006 at the Hi-Fi club, I would like to dispel all the allegations that were said against Yussef Ahmed & MY5.0 as totally baseless.Simply I would like to say that we have performed countless events both unplugged and with the band in schools, Universities, Libraries, Arts Centres, Theatres, Clubs and Festivals in the U.K and also on the Mainland for the past Sixteen years and we've never had such misinformation and slander said against us.In addition to these performances we have been recently performing unplugged sessions on various BBC radio stations across the country as well as having our recordings broadcast nationally.Despite all the harmful words that have been said and posted on this site about us, I would like to assure people and the rest of the staff at the Hi-Fi club that we are not anti western or anti Semitic but anti exploitation. Yes there were 2 protest songs recited on the night but our shows are very diverse and balanced both poetically and musically, our text and sub text are not subversive or encourage or incite violence in any way.Literature can always be open to interpretation. We make music to keep the feet moving and the mind working. The track "love of life" which contains the phrase "Allah u akar" (God is great) has been performed countless times, most noted on the Carlton music programme "Soul Music" in which we shared the stage with Gabrielle, Travis and Trick Baby. Love of life simply says that love cannot be attained only through the tangible knowledge of the senses. "Rise up" is a protest song which is simply saying stop the war! Most of the tracks performed that night were about music, art, culture, ecology, love and unity. Our music/songs are well balanced with a real high-energy party vibe. We have a good working relationship with the Hi-Fi Club. In conclusion I would like to say that we do welcome constructive criticism but what was said and posted on the Internet is nothing more than highly defamatory and untrue. Those responsible for such an act are beyond reason and extreme in their thoughts. It is also an attack on the freedom of creative expression. Hence they need to question their own prejudices.Stay strongStay humanStay focusedYussef Ahmed and MY5.0

Laura Walton MyVillage

An intimate venue where it seems that everyone knows each other and the music is tasteful and eclectic running all the way from 60s Stax and Motown to Latin and Old Skool hip hop and has attracted guests from Martina Topley-Bird to the James Taylor Quartet. The fact that Hifi feels more like a bar than a club makes you feel at home but you just won't be able to resist getting up for a dance. No doubt this is one of Leeds' best clubs (just check out those funky stainless steel loos!).
Chapeltown is a suburb of north-east Leeds and is the centre of the city's British Afro-Caribbean community.
