We dined here on saturday night with two of our friends and thought the food was really good, theres a great choice on the menu and the pizzas are to die for.I had a special that was the best thing i have had in ages. the staff were great and very knowledgable about the wine and food. we will be going back soon.
I visited the restuarant with six others for my mothers birthday. We pre-booked for 12:30. The restaurant decor looks alright and the food when it finally appeared was fine but not anything extra special. What was special was the poor service in that we waited over an hour for a starter and then a further half an hour for the main. For both starter and main when the food did finally arrive one meal was missing, unfortunatly for the same person on both occassions. The bill was quite large and included an item we had not ordered or seen. I asked to speak with the manager and was told she was in a meeting, We did not leave a tip and told the staff why but after this they turned a little rude. Just before leaving the manageress appeared and appologised for the poor service and explained that they were short staffed in the kitchen and that the tills were new and that upon reflection she should not have opened that day. She also refunded about a third of the bill. This belated action although not making up for our disappoinitment did prove that she was concerned and I think overall she managed to convince me at least that this was a one-off fall from grace. I personally will not be returning to confirm this but I have heard good reports from other diners and so you'll need to make up your own minds.
Salute Restaurant in Rothwell, Leeds. What a great place! We visiting during the early bird period before 7pm and enjoyed a wonderful 3 course meal for 14. The food at Salute Rothwell is excellent - I had the lamb shank and my wife pizza. The meat was just melt-in-the mouth. I can't recommend the Salute restaurant enough.I would seriously recommend you try out this place. Apart from our wonderful experience this time, Salute has a great bar where we often just relax and have a drink. Salute is easily the best restaurant in the Rothwell area and probably in the whole of this side of Leeds.
This is probably the best restaurant for miles around - excellent food, character and service. It has recently moved from Oulton to Church Lane, Rothwell - great because it's only 2 minutes from where I live. I'd eat here every night if I could.

"Well, it's a little further away from Leeds than I'd like, but the new Salute restaurant in Oulton was definitely worth the drive. Deceptive frontage meant that the modern, spacious and funky interior was an incredible surprise. The staff couldn't have been more welcoming even though I had my kids in tow! Justine Gregory, the owner, introduced herself and was particularly charming. She has made some good design choices. The lights aren't too bright but you can still read the menu! The music is funky and uplifting but not obtrusive and you can hold a conversation! The menu leaves you with a great amount of choice. Mostly Italian in style, you will also find other international and home grown treats! The whole family had something different but we particularly liked the creamy garlic mushrooms and the pasta dishes. They've got the pizza base just right and the kids spicy meatballs were tasty but mild enough for the little ones palettes. The attention to detail stood this restaurant apart. Rather than being made to feel in the way, my kids were given special treatment. My year old was given bits of cucumber to chew on for her sore gums! Now that's service! I have to suggest the baked vanilla cheescake! Better than sex? Ladies it's even better than chocolate! Considering the restaurant is still in it's first week of trading, every night has been a busy one. The proof of the pudding is in the eating so they say! I'll be taking friends for a purely adult indulgence because next time I'll be giving the squiffy coffees a try!"
